2019 Pi Lambda Lambda (PLL) Talent Hunt

The 2019 Talent Hunt is being sponsored by the PI Lambda Lambda Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. and the George M. Hampton Foundation

The Pi Lambda Lambda Chapter of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. proudly announces its Annual Talent Hunt Competition on March 10, 2019.  This competition continues a distinguished legacy of tribute to youths in the arts by our beloved Fraternity.  Categories of competition are: Instrumental Solo (Classical, Semi-Classical, Jazz, Gospel), Vocal solo (Classical, Semi-Classical, Jazz, Gospel), Piano solo (Classical, Semi-Classical, Jazz, Gospel), Dance Interpretations (Modern, Jazz, Tap, Liturgical) and Dramatic Interpretations (Poetry, dramatic reading, monologue, et.).  

This competition is open to all currently enrolled high school students (grades 9 – 12).  Qualified students compete for performance scholarships in the amount of $750 (1st Place), $500 (2nd Place), $300 (3rd Place) and $50 (4-12th Place) plus an additional $950 in incentive cash prizes.  The Pi Lambda Lambda Chapter Talent Hunt competition will be held March 10,2019 at Woodbridge Senior High School, 3001 Old Bridge Road, Woodbridge VA 22192.  The winner will then compete at the 86th Annual Third District Meeting April 11-14, 2019 at the Hyatt Regency Dulles Hotel in Herndon, VA.  Talent Hunt Applications and Parent Release Forms may be downloaded and distributed at the below link.  Applications should be completed and forwarded by email to cvictorherbin3@gmail.com or pmg1917@gmail.com

The applicant will need to submit a 30 second audition video performance showcasing their talent.  Cell phone videos are acceptable.  Video files should be sent to email addresses provided above.


THE APPLICATION DEADLINE IS December 7, 2018.

 

  • All presentations including instrumental numbers must be memorized and must be dignified and in good taste.
  • All performances must be “single performer” acts.  Duets, trios, quartets, etc. are not eligible.
  • Track music may be used for accompaniment as long as there is no lead instrumental or background vocals included on the track.
  • Contestants in the instrumental, piano and vocalist (including those using Track music) categories must provide 3 copies of sheet music to the judges. Sheet music can generally be obtained via the internet. Contestants in the Drama category must provide scripts of their speech.  Dance contestants have no requirements for the sheet music. 
  • All contestants must submit a Parental Consent Form.
  • Performance may not exceed 6 minutes without penalty.
