SCHOLARSHIP

Frank Dunlap Memorial Scholarship

Applications can be downloaded below, and are also available through Guidance Offices at public High Schools in Prince William County, Stafford County, Manassas, and Manassas Park. 

CRITERIA 

  • Be an African American male
  • Be enrolled in a Prince William County, Stafford County, Manassas or Manassas Park Public School
  • Be a graduating high school senior in the 2018– 2019 school year
  • Have a minimum high school cumulative GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale
  • Provide two Letters of Recommendation:
    • One letter written by a high school teacher or counselor
    • One letter written by a person from a Community Organization, Church, etc.
  • Provide, via postal mail, an official copy of high school transcript (with official seal)
  • Submit a 700-750 word typewritten, double-spaced essay (see item VIII of this application)

We are looking for students who have actively participated and demonstrated leadership in high school and community activities or services.  A personal interview by telephone or in person with the Pi Lambda Lambda Scholarship Committee is also potentially a part of the application process.


SCHOLARSHIP CATEGORIES:

Please indicate below the scholarship category in which you wish to compete.  You may apply for a 4-Year College/University or 2-Year Junior/Community College but not both.

4-YearCollege/University.

Scholarships in this category are for the fall semester of the designated year(s):

  • 1st Place             $3,000 in 2019 and $3,000 in 2020
  • 2ndPlace             $2,500 in 2019 
  • 3rdPlace              $2,000 in 2019
  • 4thPlace              $1,000 in 2019
  • 5thPlace              $1,000 in 2019
  • 6thPlace              $1,000 in 2019
  • 7thPlace              $1,000 in 2019

2-YearJunior/CommunityCollege

Scholarships in this category are for the fall semester of 2019:

  • 1stPlace              $2,000              
  • 2ndPlace             $1,500

George M. Hampton Foundation Scholarship

The George M. Hampton Foundation, in partnership the Pi Lambda Lambda Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. presents its Annual George M. Hampton Foundation 2019 High School Scholarship Competition.  


SCHOLARSHIP CRITERIA– APPLICANTS MUST:

  • Be a resident and enrolled in a Prince William County, Stafford County, Manassas or Manassas Park Public School
  • Be a graduating high school senior in the 2018 – 2019 school year
  • Have a minimum high school cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
  • Two Letters of Recommendations
  • A letter written by a high school teacher or counselor
