The George M. Hampton Scholarship and Community Action Foundation, Inc. is a public, non-profit organization. The foundation is named after Dr. George M. Hampton, charter member of Pi Lambda Lambda, (Mu Psi, 1949), for his steadfast dedication to providing college scholarships to youth and his commitment to social action programs that enhance the quality of life for the citizens of Prince William County and throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia.
It givesme great pleasure to report that the state of Pi Lambda Lambda Chapter (PLL) is good and that PLL continues to aspire to greater heights.
Since its inception, the leadership of PLL has recognized that only through a progressive vision and sustained commitment could the Chapter hope to reach the heights to which it aspired. This principle of strong leadership as a key ingredient to success coincidentally reflects our founding father’s vision of excellence. In 2004, the charter members and the elective leadership of our beloved Chapter envisioned an organization that would carry out the vision of our beloved Founders in the Prince William County area. They also wanted to make PLL one of the best Chapters in the Fraternity. In my opinion, the goal has been – and continues to be- attained.
In its early days, PLL embarked upon building a character that would set an example for other Chapters to follow. 13 years is tantamount to a grain of sand in an organization that is more one hundred years old. Yet, in only 14 years PLL continues to conduct an aggressive Social Action (i.e., community service) agenda. As Basileus, I am proud of the Brothers in this Chapter and the individual enthusiasm that each commits to public service.
As a 38 year member of this glorious Fraternity, I am proud to be a member of this wonderful Chapter and humbled to be its Basileus. Pi Lambda Lambda is truly one of Omega’s brightest stars.
